I’ve been in the process of upgrading my style, now that I’m out of college. Which means a lot of clothes shopping, something I typically dislike because I’m an awkward size and nothing fits me well.
Today I continued my quest at the Jersey Shore Premium Outlets. Shopping was not as painful as usual because I was with my awesome friends :). And I actually found a shirt that fit me so bonus points to that. But just riding in a car for an hour with a few of my favorite people is enough to keep me happy.
This time last year I was preparing for the journey of a lifetime.
Let’s see what you’ve got 2012!
I will update this blog.
With the first weekend of shooting under our belts, I feel good.
It’s been hard staying on schedule and adjusting to problems that arise throughout the day. But I think it’s a testament to our group that we’ve been able to keep rolling.
I reflected on the weekend with Olivia and I realized that all of us have high expectations for ourselves and for each other, and when we can’t rise to meet those expectations we get frustrated. But we are fortunate to be working together because we can push each other to reach our potentials. And after all is said and done, no matter how fed up we get, we know that all of us care and are fully committed to producing the best film possible.
I’m really blessed to be working with such talented people, and if I could make movies with them for a living, I would do so in a heartbeat.
2 more days left. It’s the homestretch now.
Another day down, eventful as always. We hit some snags with equipment malfunctions, but we proved quick on our feet and worked around them. I’ve come to believe this is one of the most important characteristics of a filmmaker.
I think we got a lot of quality footage. We’re perfectionists, who work for ‘the shot’ until we get it, but work fast in a crunch.
These long days of filming are draining, and I’ll be glad when tomorrow is over and we have our first weekend completed. I’m grateful to work with such a supportive and talented crew, who share one vision and work passionately towards it.
First day of shooting in the can. We got off to a slow start and were behind schedule all day. But once we got rolling, things flowed pretty smoothly. I had some issues while running sound, but we managed to resolve them more or less. Part of me is excited for tomorrow, the other part is dreading it. But I think we’ll push through any problems and we’ll find a way to make things work.
11/11/11: not really lucky, but we’ve got a leprechaun for that.
Yesterday I tried my hand at DP-ing for Olivia’s film shoot. I’m kind of nervous for how it came out. It’s tough to frame for film because the composition changes as characters move through the space. I think the only way I could get better at it is to practice though.
Aside from that, I’ve just been keeping busy with our upcoming final project. There’s a lot of pre-production left to do, including raising money to help finance it. Things are starting to pick up fast in the final 2 months of college. I always have a tough time keeping my head above water, but at least this is the last semester. On the other hand, I don’t think I’m ready to be out of the college bubble. At least I have 2 months left to enjoy the security
Another film in the can! This week was Aanch’s turn to direct and I acted as production manager. Basically I made arrangements for the film and helped out in any way possible on set. The script was heavy, but I think the actors pulled it off. They were really talented.
That makes 3 out of 4, and my last role shall be as DP. I’m a little intimidated to run the camera, but I’m sure I’ll be okay.
I shot my short film, Dairy Goes Again, yesterday. It was my first time really stepping into the role of director and I think it generally went well. My actors were great and the crew was stellar as usual. And a special thanks to my roommates who let me shoot in our kitchen/dining room. We took over the place for about 8 hours and made some movie magic. I’m excited to see how the shots came out when I get the film back!
